Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Psalm 122:1  I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

It is with great joy and sobriety that we announce to you that we will open the Living Word Worship Center for church services starting this Friday, May 29th at 7:30 pm.

We say this joyfully because of our great spiritual longing to assemble the church for prayer, worship, the Word, and fellowship. We say this soberly because we understand the threat of COVID-19 to our congregation, our visitors, and our community.

We believe we can take good care of you and the community while we assemble. If we were not confident that we could assemble with a reasonable degree of health safety, we would not do it. During this time of fear and unprecedented government intervention, we believe that we will continue to be an excellent example to our community of Christian faith and practical concern by opening church.

Until the corona virus pandemic has been overcome, our procedures and conduct at church services will have to be adjusted for the protection of all.  We have assembled teams of medical experts and ushers to help us provide a safe environment and safe procedures for our church services.  In a good Christian spirit please be ready to learn what is expected of you and comply.

QUESTIONS?  This announcement is only the beginning of our communication with you about opening the church.  You certainly have many questions about what church will be like.  The answers will be coming in the next week.  By Wednesday morning this week we plan to post a brief YouTube video that will familiarize you with assembly procedures and expectations.  Most of your questions will be answered by this video.  Please be patient while you wait for the video to be published.  We will give you access to the video right here, at the “Living Word Grapevine.”

NURSERY?  One item that we want to let you know about early is the nursery.  The nursery will not be open right away, so you will have to make a prudent decision about whether to attend church if you have nursery age children.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?  We encourage any of you who are not feeling well to plan on staying home.  We encourage any of you who have medical complications that make you more vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19 to consider staying home.  You have to make a prudent choice for yourself and your loved ones.  Simply because the church doors are open doesn’t obligate you to go through them.

LIVING WORD LIVE?  At least for a while, we will broadcast the church services live on Zoom.  We are doing this because we realize the virus pandemic is requiring many of you to take shelter at home, and we do not want you to be left completely out of a blessing.

Praise the Living Lord!  We will be in touch.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Unfortunately Living Word Live is cancelled for this morning due to technical difficulties with the Zoom platform.  We understand that Zoom is having audio and video streaming difficulties across its domain.  Lord willing we will be broadcasting again Wednesday evening.  Praise the Lord anyway!  Until next time…

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Just a heads up:  If you subscribed for notifications on either this announcement page or our devotional “A Word for Today,” your email may be sent to your “Spam” mailbox or your “Promotions” mailbox instead of your “Primary” mailbox.  Some email programs simply have to be taught that these notifications belong in your “Primary mailbox” by moving the email there once or twice.

We pray that you are well served by these two new functions on our church website.

Hi Again, Living Word Brothers and Sisters,

We are pleased to announce that our on-line services are becoming more predictable.

Dear Living Word Brothers and Sisters,

We won’t tell a soul if you are still wearing your pajamas!

You are cordially invited to our first on-line church service tomorrow morning at 10:00 am.  The service will be broadcast live and not recorded, so you don’t want to miss it.  Join us on time from any Internet-connected device.

At 10:00 sharp you will see and hear your own worship team, leading us in live worship for a few songs.  Then Bro. Bryan will share a brief message from the Word of God from his home.

Perhaps you would like to gather your whole family around that big screen TV of yours to sing and pray together.  Perhaps you would like to invite a few saints to your house for breakfast and church.

Let us together overcome evil with good!

Dear Living Word Brothers and Sisters,

I never expected having to explain to you why we are not keeping our regular church schedule. But I trust you will be understanding.

The public response to the COVID19 virus is unlike anything we have ever seen. I am sure the 1918 flu pandemic deserved an even more aggressive response than COVID19 nearly one hundred years ago, but alas, we did not understand viruses then as we do today. Our church needs to do its small part to avoid another virus-event like the 1918 flu.

Due to the public health crisis we will not be holding our typical schedule of church services. In the meantime, we expect our government officials to clarify for us what we can and cannot do within the ban on large gatherings. We will be in contact with them soon to learn more about the new regulation that limits the size of a congregation and/or a meeting place.

We will surely take every reasonable measure to protect our church members and visitors during this health crisis. In addition, we also have to think about being responsible members of the larger community. God forbid that a life-threatening sickness would incubate at our church services and hurt the community where the Lord has placed us.

That said, we don’t want our responsibility to the community and our life of faith to contradict each other. There may be ways to fellowship in faith while still maintaining the safety of our members, visitors, and the whole CNY community. We will be giving this considerable thought and prayer.

We are now assembling teams of brethren to help put together alternative ways for us to fellowship and be strengthened in worship and the Word. We will be making announcements through the Grape Vine and this web page about how you can still enjoy fellowship. Please stay tuned.

In Luke 21:11 Jesus tells us some of the signs of the end days: “There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.” There is no question COVID19 is one of the pestilences Jesus predicts.

We should respond to these plagues with humility before God instead of irritation, frustration, or fear. The Bible told us these things would happen. They are the birth pangs that precede the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh, Lord, may you keep your people and help us to be good examples for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
