Exodus 18:8-9 And Moses told his father-in-law all that the Lord had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardship that had come upon them on the way, and how the Lord had delivered them. Then Jethro rejoiced for all the good which the Lord had done for Israel, whom He had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.
Trials are never easy to experience. No one likes being in “the squeeze” during frightening situations. But, it’s important to remember that trials, once passed, give us an opportunity to tell others what Jesus did for us during the trial.
The nation of Israel found itself in a colossal-sized trial when fleeing Egypt. They were trapped in the wilderness with steep cliffs on both sides, the Red Sea in front of them, and Pharaoh’s chariots bearing down behind them. When the Lord opened the Red Sea to deliver them, their trial would forever become a powerful testimony for all the generations to come. Jethro, for one, rejoiced to hear of the Lord’s miraculous intervention.
I can think back to when the Lord intervened for me and Roxanne. I bought our house, without realizing I would need appliances. Nearly overwhelmed by my trial, I poured out my complaint, “Lord, what am I going to do? I don’t have a washer, a dryer, or a refrigerator! And no way can I afford them!” The next day, I was advised to call a family from church. When I called, the sister on the phone said, “Hey Brother! My husband and I just bought a house and the previous owner left behind a washer, a dryer, and a refrigerator! Can you use any of them? We don’t need them.” I was stunned! What I saw as a monumental trial, the Lord turned into a testimony that still encourages me today.
Has the COVID-19 virus caused you to feel trapped in on all sides? Are you seeing this as an overwhelming trial right now? Watch and see what Jesus will do during this time! How you’ll be able to tell others of the goodness of the Lord! Remember, behind every trial is a testimony waiting to take shape.
