I Kings 10:1-2 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions. …and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
Solomon was wise and wealthy, both blessings from God above, but he was not the only wealthy leader at that time. The queen of Sheba, often referred to in scripture as the queen of the South, was wealthy, too. However, her wealth did not ease the questions in her heart.
That Solomon is known for his wisdom can cause us to lose sight of the wisdom we see in the queen. She was a wealthy and great leader, but that is not what made her wise. Rather, her wisdom was knowing where to get the answers to the questions of her heart. She was not too prideful to seek for those answers, and she didn’t mind giving Solomon gifts and riches for what she received. She went home praising the God of Solomon.
Hers is a wisdom we can all have.
