Have you ever looked at yourself and thought, “What could God possibly ever see in me?” Perhaps the current picture of your life is not a very pretty one. You’re filled with flaws, mistakes, and imperfections. Maybe you wonder why God would even be interested in you.
We certainly don’t have anything to brag about before the Lord. Truth be told, the human race has been a big disappointment. The Bible paints the true picture of us:
Romans 3:10 & 23 There is none righteous, no, not one…
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Thankfully, Jesus hasn’t discarded us or considered us to be a complete waste of His time and effort. He continues to patiently work on us to bring us to completion. He promises:
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God has a plan for your life, if you are willing to trust Him, turn away from sin, and seek after Jesus Christ. Jesus doesn’t only see you as you currently are, He sees what you could become; the finished product, if you will.
Imagine painting a picture like a famous artist. While putting the paint on the canvas, it doesn’t always look so good. However, the artist envisions what the painting will look like and continues painting until it is finished.
The painting of your life may not look like much at present, but God sees what you will become in Him. Let Him continue to work on you, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…” (Philippians 1:6)
Once He has finished His work, you are sure to become a masterpiece!
