Reaching out to Central New York in the name of Jesus Christ

A Word for Today

There is Peace with Jesus Christ

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

I can only take small doses of the news most of the time. It seems the networks no longer focus on events that have transpired. Instead, they spend a great deal of time and energy speculating on all the “What If” scenarios that could possibly go wrong. They predict how things will go if certain circumstances occur, what might happen if such and such a situation were to take place, or if so and so were to do this or that, etc. Quite honestly, they’ve become very adept at promoting and spreading fear to their viewing audiences. Especially as of late, fear has really gripped our world, and is trying to find its way into the churches.

It is at this time, we need to remember that there is peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  He has not given us a spirit of fear, right? He wants us to be at peace, even when things look bleak. Let us be reminded that Jesus didn’t promise things would always go well. He said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Jesus tells us this world will bring its share of troubles, but in spite of those troubles, we can have peace through Him. The world doesn’t have that peace, because it can only be found in the person of Jesus Christ! But the good news is this… THAT peace is available to anyone who needs it!  Are you finding yourself needing peace right now in the midst of everything going on?  Look to Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and He will deliver you from all your fears.  Remember, He overcame this world!

Lord, help us to be at peace even when it seems to be so absent in the world right now. Help us to remember that you have all things under control. We only need to trust that you will take care of us in every situation in which we may find ourselves.

(Isaiah 26:3) “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
